HITC Sport understands Irish coach in frame to replace Russell Slade at Charlton
Russell Slade sacked by Charlton
Charlton Athletic have lined up a move for Chris O’Loughlin to replace Russell Slade as manager at the Valley, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Charlton are looking for a new manager after Slade was sacked on Monday after less than six months in charge of the League One club.
Slade signed a three-year deal to become manager of Charlton in June, following their relegation from the Championship last season, but the Addicks have struggled so far this term and currently lie in 15th spot in the table.
Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to struggling Swindon was the last straw for the club’s board and they decided to axe Slade and look for a new manager to transform their fortunes.

Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet has sacked seven managers since taking control of the club in 2014.
O’Loughlin is in pole position for the role at the Valley after impressing Duchatelet while in charge of another one of his clubs Sint-Truiden in Belgium.
The 38-year-old has no experience of working in England, but he has had spells working in South Africa, Congo, Australia and Belgium.
O’Loughlin has been pictured attending a number of Charlton’s home games recently and he could now be handed the task of getting the club’s season back on track.
