Ollie Watkins has congratulated David Raya after he completed a loan move from Brentford to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The Aston Villa striker posted on the goalkeeper’s Instagram ‘congrats bro’ as he joins a team wanting to win the Premier League title this season.

Even though Mikel Arteta has Aaron Ramsdale as his number one goalkeeper, he has decided to push for David Raya’s talents, which some think is a risky move, including Premier League legend, Peter Schmeichel.

The Spain International was the main guy at Brentford, but he had 12 months left to run on his contract and he wanted to take that next step in his career.

Arsenal have brought Raya in on a loan deal, after he signed a new contract at the GTECH Stadium, and can sign him on a permanent basis next summer if all goes well, as reported by BBC Sport.

Raya took to his IG to express his delight at signing for the Gunners, with a number of players responding in the comments section.

Sergi Canos told Raya: “You deserve it. I love you, bro.” And Ollie Watkins added: “Congrats, bro,” added with love hearts emojis.

Who will be Arsenal’s number one?

Amid this talk of Raya coming in, Aaron Ramsdale couldn’t have timed his recent form better, especially after helping Arsenal beat Manchester City via a penalty shootout in the Community Shield.

You would imagine, for now, he remains the club’s number one. But what happens when the Champions League returns?

It will be interesting if Raya is handed the gloves for those games because you would imagine that it would cause quite a debate if he does.
