What a few days it’s been for Olivier Ntcham.
The midfielder has been out of favour at Celtic this season, making just seven league starts in a frustrating campaign.
It quickly became apparent that Ntcham had the chance to leave Celtic before the transfer deadline, with a couple of suitors emerging.
One of them was Newcastle United; Sky Sports reported that the Magpies had asked about a deal to take Ntcham on loan until the summer.
Celtic wanted a purchase clause adding into the deal, something that Newcastle seemingly wouldn’t commit to – but Marseille did.
The 24-year-old has joined Marseille on loan with a view to a £4.5million summer deal, possibly bringing his Celtic career to an end.
He was likely delighted with that move, heading back to France with a key role following Morgan Sanson’s move to Aston Villa – but it’s already becoming a nightmare.

Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas has unbelievably offered to resign today, because the club signed Ntcham when he didn’t want him.
As quoted by The Guardian, Villas-Boas noted that he said ‘no’ to signing Ntcham, and he simply wants to leave the club without compensation now – which has now been confirmed.
Ntcham likely isn’t feeling too great now, and may feel that he wouldn’t have been embroiled in this kind of drama had he been able to make that move to Newcastle.
