The Celtic midfielder did a decent job despite Paris Saint-Germain running riot on Tuesday evening.

Celtic headed into their Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain quietly confident given home advantage, but they finished the game having been taught a footballing lesson by the expensively assembled side.

Any team that can bring in Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in a single transfer window is going to make light work of most clubs they face, and so it proved on Tuesday as the French giants ran out 5-0 winners.

That said, some of Celtic’s players deserved credit, at least for never giving up and for trying to play the right way, and one of those was midfielder Olivier Ntcham.

The 21-year-old has impressed since arriving at Celtic Park, and although he could not make his mark in the centre of the field against the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Marco Verratti, he never let his head drop and he attempted to push his beleaguered teammates forward whenever possible.

While some Celtic fans were still pointing fingers at Ntcham at the final whistle, he showed his character and will only learn from this experience.

In fact, he could look back on this humiliation as a turning point in his career, one in which he realised just how far he has to go before he is on the same level as a player like Rabiot, who is only one year his senior.

Celtic may want to forget this match in a hurry, but there were still positives to take, no matter how few and far between.
