The Arsenal man has been linked with a move to Everton and West Ham United this month.
Gunners hitman Olivier Giroud’s agent Michael Manuello told reporters that his client has no interest in moving abroad this month, as quoted by the Mirror – words that should give Everton and West Ham hope of winning the race for his signature.
The 31-year-old has played a peripheral role for Arsenal this season, something that could prove to be detrimental to his hopes of earning a place in France’s World Cup starting XI, although he has still found the net seven times in 901 minutes of football thus far.
Both the Hammers and Toffees have held long-standing interest in signing the Frenchman, according to the Mirror, and a move away from the Emirates looks to be on the cards this month, although a loan deal seems to be the most likely outcome.
Manuello spoke to reporters regarding rumours linking Giroud with a switch to Turkey or China, and insisted that neither of those potential propositions interest his client, as quoted by the Mirror:
“He listens, looks and after he will see. Leaving to leave has no use. It has to be coherent and it gives him something more. He will have playing time at Arsenal, the second part of the season is important, with competitions to play, even if he is only the Europa League. The clubs in Turkey? That does not interest him. China either. Leaving to earn more money is not what’s important in his state of mind.”
With the January transfer window now open for business, this will certainly be one to keep a close eye on for both West Ham and Everton fans, as Giroud looks for a move that would aid him in earning a starting berth for France at Russia 2018.
