Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud praises his France international teammate and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Giroud, who joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window for a transfer fee reported by The Times to be worth £19 million, is part of the France team at the World Cup in Russia.
Lloris is also part of the French team, who are aiming to win against Belgium in the semi-finals this week and book their place in the final.
Chelsea striker Giroud has stated that the Tottenham star is the best goalkeeper at the World Cup – better than his club teammate Thibaut Courtois.
The London Standard Evening quotes the 31-year-old as saying: “Thibaut has an impressive wingspan. It’s hard to beat him on the sides. He can stop balls in any area.
“I have scored a few goals against him in training with Chelsea and I hope I can do it on Tuesday. They’re both great keepers.
“And they both deserve to be elected as best keeper of the tournament, even if I have a preference for Hugo. The best is Hugo. Sorry Thibaut.”
Semi-final ties
France will head into their tie against Belgium as favourites, but the Red Devils will fancy their chances against Didier Deschamps’s side.
Roberto Martinez’s side have been superb at the World Cup, and one should not be surprised if they progress to the final.
The other semi-final tie is between England and Croatia, and it is also very finely balance.
