Giroud has played just 12 minutes for the Gunners, and has now seens £17m man Luas Perez arrive as further competition for his place.
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has insisted, as quoted by the London Evening Standard, that he is not worried about his lack of game time so far this season as he was expecting to be reintroduced gradually after Euro 2016.
Giroud was the Gunners’ man – and often only – striker last term, and enjoyed his most successful individual campaign for the club, scoring 24 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions.
However, he came under heavy criticism for a lengthy run of poor form in the latter half of the campaign as he failed to score in the Premier League for almost four months between mid-January and early May.
He finished the season with four goals in two games, however, and played a large role for his country as France reached the final of Euro 2016, scoring three times in six appearances.
Giroud has been given an extended rest after that lengthy run at the tournament and has seen his involvement for Arsenal so far this season limited to a 12-minute substitute appearance.
Theo Walcott has instead been preferred in attack, and Giroud’s place looks even more under threat after the £17 million arrival of Spanish forward Lucas Perez earlier this week.
However, Giroud has insisted that he is not worried by his lack of game time and said that he was always expecting to be reintroduced gradually.
The 29-year-old said, via the Standard: “My club situation? I’m not worried, I came back very late from the Euros.
“It was normal to throw me in gradually. There is no problem on that side.”
Giroud looked sharp for France this week, scoring in a 3-1 win over Italy on Thursday, and will be hoping to force his way back into starting contention after the culmination of the international break.
