Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is convinced Napoli’s Victor Osimhen will win Serie A’s Golden Boot before potentially following in his footsteps in the Premier League, speaking to DAZN.
Then again, we wouldn’t recommend chucking your week’s wage on Osimhen walking away with the Capocannoniere under his arm. Returns on your investment, after all, would be in pretty short supply.
The Nigeria international has 18 goals in 18 starts for runaway leaders Napoli. He is five clear of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and six clear of Ademola Lookman (yes, he of Everton, Leicester and Fulham fame).
Giroud, meanwhile, is 11 shy of a man who’s price-tag has doubled in size since joining Napoli from Lille during the summer of 2020.

“Osimhen,” the World Cup winner said when asked who’s mantelpiece the Golden Boot award will be adorning. “He does everything well. He has very high confidence.”
Will Arsenal sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer?
President Aurelio de Laurentiis, at least, is no pushover. If Sir Alex Ferguson said dealing with Daniel Levy was more painful than his hip replacement, then negotiating with De Laurentiis may be the footballing equivalent of a root canal without anaesthetic.
But with so many clubs in the market for an elite number nine – Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United to name but three – De Laurentiis’ desire to retain his talismanic frontman is bound to be tested to the limits. Tuttomercatoweb believe Arsenal are also hot on Osimhen’s heels; the Gunners long-time admirers of a player valued at around £100 million (Corriere dello Sport).
“I know Osimhen,” Arsenal’s former Napoli midfielder Jorginho says, via Football Italia. “I had played against him in Champions League (Chelsea vs Lille). He had given a hard time to our defenders.
“(Napoli director Cristiano) Giuntoli called me before signing him. I told him to sign him straight away. He is very promising and is doing really well.”
