Aston Villa loanee intends to be at Stamford Bridge next season.
Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham told Sky Sports this week he hopes to establish himself at Chelsea this season when his loan ends.
Blues youngsters do not always get what they want, and Abraham hoped for the same last season, before being sent to Aston Villa.
Abraham’s chances at Chelsea have received a boost after Olivier Giroud signalled he could look to leave the club this summer.
Giroud has never established himself as a regular since his surprise switch from London rivals Arsenal.
He is out of contract in the summer and told Sky Sports: “Of course it’s frustrating. I know that I will only play in the Europa League. I try to do what it takes to be as effective and as important as I can for the team.”
It is hard to see Giroud staying put at Stamford Bridge. He signed for £18 million last January, under former boss Antonio Conte.
With Giroud’s 18-month contract winding down, when he leaves, Chelsea will be a striker short.
It is lining up well for Abraham to finally get what he wants.
His performances for Aston Villa suggest he deserves a shot. Villa will want to keep him, but it’s not lining up in their favour.
