The Tottenham Hotspur starlet will have learnt a lot last season.
Tottenham youngster Oliver Skipp sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared something interesting that he has noticed about the club’s more senior players.
The 18-year-old burst onto the scene with Spurs last season, making 12 senior appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and he really impressed, racking up two assists in the process.
Central midfield is an extremely competitive position at Tottenham, with Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Victor Wanyama, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier and Skipp all battling out for three spots.
And Skipp told the club’s official website how much he learned from being part of the first-team squad last season, highlighting how closely he observed his teammates’ actions and behaviours:
“One thing you notice is that the results mean so much to people. You can see how everyone reacts in the changing room – seeing how long they stay disappointed for if we’ve lost before moving on to the next game is always interesting.”
Skipp will be hoping for more regular action with Tottenham next term, but he will have to really impress Mauricio Pochettino during pre-season, if he is to have any chance of forcing his way into the first-team as a regular starter.
Perhaps it would be more realistic, however, for him to spend the season away from Spurs on loan somewhere, learning his trade, and coming back a better, more mature, all-round player.
