Will Oliver Sarkic make Leeds regret letting him go?
Oliver Sarkic has a point to prove after being overlooked during his two spells at Leeds United.
Sarkic was sold this summer to Burton Albion, not figuring in manager Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.
The former Benfica forward made his first start for Burton in midweek, in a 2-1 win over Port Vale.
He made a good impact too, setting up a goal for Liam Boyce after just nine minutes.
Sarkic told the Derby Telegraph: “I want to be dangerous offensively and I managed to show that after nine minutes with the assist.
“Of course I am looking to score but as long as I am helping the team I am happy. I think it was a great way to start.”
Sarkic made his debut at the weekend for the League One side as a late substitute.
Like all strikers, Sarkic will be judged by goals, but this is a good way to start.
He made a good impression for Leeds’ under-23 side when he joined, before picking up an injury and then losing his place.
A loan spell in Spain last season didn’t do much for him either. He can be glad this fresh start has begun well.
