Hull City are among the sides linked with the new Sheffield United recruit.

Oliver Norwood of Fulham waves to the fans during the Sky Bet Championship Play Off Final between Aston Villa and Fulham at Wembley Stadium on May 26, 2018 in London, England.

Oliver Norwood has told the BBC that clubs other than Sheffield United were interested in signing him from Brighton and Hove Albion – and failed to deny that Hull City were one of those.

Norwood moved to Sheffield United on Monday on a loan deal that will become permanent for a fee of around £2 million in January – an opportunity the midfielder revealed he ‘grabbed with both hands’.

And Norwood could make his Blades debut as early as Tuesday, when Hull of all clubs visit Chris Wilder’s side in the EFL Cup.

Asked about the speculation linking him with a move elsewhere – specifically Hull – he replied: “Yeah, there was (interest). Football changes daily.

“But all that’s in the past now. I’m a Sheffield United player, I’m committed to the cause and it’s transfer talk at the end of the day.

“It happens every summer with bigger and better players than me. For me it was important to move back up north and I’m really looking forward now to settling down and getting the season started for myself personally.”

And Norwood added: “I’ve worked hard over the summer to keep myself fit, knowing that an opportunity would come and the opportunity that has arose I genuinely couldn’t pick anything better.”

Hull's head coach Nigel Adkins looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Hull City and Brentford at KCOM Stadium on December 9, 2017 in Hull, England.

Norwood links up with Alan Knill – his former manager at Scunthorpe United and the current Sheffield United number two – at Bramall Lane, but could have reunited with Nigel Adkins – his former boss at Reading and Wilder’s predecessor – had he joined Hull.

The 27-year-old is on the hunt for a third successive promotion, having helped Brighton and Fulham into the Premier League within the past 15 months.
