Oliver Kahn is convinced Bayern Munich will enjoy a ‘very successful’ future with Julian Nagelsmann after the Bundesliga giants beat Tottenham Hotspur to the RB Leipzig boss.
It is a whole new era at the Allianz Arena; a younger one, at that.
51-year-old Kahn will replace 65-year-old Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as Bayern’s CEO at the end of this season and one of his first tasks was to secure the services of a man who, at the age of just 33, may already be Europe’s most coveted tactician.
Nagelsmann turned Hoffenheim into a Champions League side and turned Leipzig into title challengers, all the while setting Timo Werner, Marcel Sabitzer and Dayot Upamecano on the path to superstardom.
So the prospect of Nagelsmann taking over a Bayern side boasting the likes of Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala will have Dortmund, Gladbach and Leverkusen supporters quaking in their boots.
“Julian’s contract length of five years alone shows how committed he is to FC Bayern,” Kahn, the once legendary goalkeeper, told Bayern’s website after Nagelsmann signed on until the summer of 2026.

“I am convinced that FC Bayern’s sporting future will be a very successful one with Julian Nagelsmann.”
According to the Mail, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy had identified Nagelsmann as the number one choice to replace Jose Mourinho at the helm.
But, with the youngest coach in Bundesliga history now bound for Bavaria, Spurs appear to be dragging their feet all the way back to the familiar surroundings of square one.
