Glasgow Rangers will take on RB Leipzig in a mid-season friendly after the turn of the year.

Oliver Burke has suggested that he is looking forward to coming up against Rangers for the first time in his career when the Scottish Premiership side face RB Leipzig in a mid-season friendly, The Scottish Sun reports.

Mark Warburton’s men will travel to Germany to face the Bundesliga outfit in January as both sides look to remain sharp over the winter breaks in their respective leagues.

And Scotland international Burke – who joined the high-flyers from Nottingham Forest in the summer window – has outlined what he is expecting when he faces the Gers for the first time.

“Rangers have got some good individual talents and a few of them have come away with the Scotland squads,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

“I know they will be physical and have good talent around the pitch.

“It will be a first for me to play against Rangers so it’ll be interesting.”

As Burke alluded to, he knows a few of Warburton’s team from meeting up with them with the national team, and it may perhaps be a battle with a Scotland teammate that goes a long way to deciding the result in January.

With Leipzig’s season resuming earlier than Rangers’, it seems more likely that Ralph Hasenhuttl will rotate his squad slightly more as he will be wary of any of his key players collecting injuries so soon before they return to league action.

And thus, it seems much more likely that Burke will get a chance as he has made just one league start since his move.

But with the Ibrox side boasting almost two weeks before they face Motherwell, Warburton may be more inclined to pick his strongest side, which could mean that Lee Wallace is the man tasked with keeping the 19-year-old quiet.
