Oliver Burke has barely been given any starting opportunities for West Bromwich Albion since signing.
Burke moved to West Brom from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £13 million last summer, but he was rarely used last season.
The youngster was regularly overlooked by Tony Pulis, Alan Pardew and Darren Moore, with other players ahead of him in the selection order.
However, Burke was given his first start of the season for West Brom on Tuesday, and he impressed as he scored the goal in the Baggies’ 1-0 win over Luton Town.
Burke is now hoping to prove that he can break into West Brom’s team this season and make an impact in the Championship.
“Obviously the first season [at Albion] was difficult and very frustrating not getting the opportunity and then the injury,” said Burke. “Unfortunately that’s part of football.
“But now I feel ready, I feel fit, sharper, and hopefully this season I can push on and show everyone what I’m capable of.”
Burke has previously proven to be a real weapon in the Championship, when he was younger with Nottingham Forest, but he faces stiff competition for places at the Hawthorns.
West Brom already have a number of attacking options, both out-wide and up-front, and he may have to bide his time before being given a chance by Moore.
The Baggies’ next match comes against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
