Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie expressed his delight on Instagram for Luke Ayling following Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Millwall in the Championship on Sunday.

Daniel Farke’s side produced perhaps their performance of the season so far when Leeds United dispatched Gary Rowett’s men with ease at the Den.

Luke Ayling started the game at right-back and played the entire match to help Leeds secure back-to-back clean sheets in the league – it has been a while since that has happened.

There have been many, many bumps along the road, but the defence is starting to showcase some bite and consistency.

That’s where Farke deserves credit because, amid the mess and distraction of the 2023 summer transfer window, his team is showcasing an identity and winning style.

And Ayling, who has had troubled times at the club during the past 18 or so months, is helping lead the charge from the back, with Oli McBurnie praising him in the comments section of his Instagram post.

McBurnie’s praise for Ayling

“Love it, Skip,” wrote McBurnie, whilst other fans and players alike praised the Englishman for his ‘brilliant’ performance.

Leeds United starting to motor

Now that the summer transfer window has slammed shut, it will allow Farke to well and truly put his foot on the accelerator and get this Leeds United team going.

The depth in quality the German has to choose from is as good as, if not better, than what he had at his disposal at Norwich City.

But the key difference here is that there is more pressure on his shoulders at Elland Road, so if he is able to deal with that, then there is no reason why Leeds can’t motor forward during these coming months.
