Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers completed a sixth summer transfer on Friday.

Could the signing of George Edmundson help Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title next season?

Lifelong Gers supporter Oli McBurnie believes so, it seems.

Rangers announced on Friday that they had signed the young English centre-back, who moves to Ibrox in a bargain £650,000 deal.

The 21-year-old has arrived in English football at an interesting time, as Steven Gerrard attempts to mould a squad strong enough to deny Celtic a ninth-successive Premiership title next season.

The light Blues have won it on 54 occasions but are without a top-flight title since 2011, and McBurnie suggests on Instagram that Edmundson could help end that drought by simply posting ’55’ in response to the Gers’ announcement of him.

Edmundson could be joined by a seventh new Rangers addition shortly, after The Daily Mail reported that Charlton’s Joe Aribo was set to undergo a medical with the club this weekend.
