Leeds United signed Barry Douglas on a three-year deal tonight.

Oli McBurnie has reacted on Twitter to Barry Douglas’s move to Leeds United from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Leeds announced earlier today that they had signed the left-back on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old, who cost around £3 million [Sky Sports], helped Wolves to Premier League promotion last season and fans of the Elland Road side will hope that he can do the same for them this time around.

For the moment, Leeds supporters are just happy to have a permanent signing following loan deals for Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman – and another man who seems happy is McBurnie.

The Swansea City marksman, who himself was linked with a move to United earlier this summer, has offered some congratulations to his Scotland team-mate.

The Whites, who have also reportedly agreed a deal to sign Patrick Bamford [Sky Sports], get their Championship campaign underway next Sunday with the visit of Stoke City.

Douglas will be expected to start at left-back, ahead of Tom Pearce and Laurens De Bock.

Next up for United is a striker and you hope for their sake that they can get Bamford or Matej Vydra – who has also been linked – over the line before their curtain raiser.

Many would have loved Leeds-born McBurnie, who dazzled during his half-season loan at Barnsley last season, but his contract extension with the Swans earlier this month put paid to the chances of that ever materialising.
