Striker target Oli McBurnie was once part of Leeds United’s academy.
The Scottish Sun reported this week that Oli McBurnie has his heart set on a move to Leeds United.
McBurnie is on loan at Barnsley from Swansea City where he has just one year remaining on his contract.
McBurnie was born in Leeds and while he is a Scotland international and Rangers fan, he reportedly is keen on signing permanently with the Whites.
In reaction the the reports, an old photo claiming to feature McBurnie was posted on social media.
It was a picture of an old Leeds under-9s team of which he was a part, with the picture verified by former club welfare officer Lucy Ward.
McBurnie responded to the messages on Twitter, acknowledging that it was him in the picture.
McBurnie’s message was not an indication of plans to sign with Leeds, but it does offer further reason for him wanting to do so.
He has unfinished business with the Whites, the club where he began his football journey, and he may harbour hopes of leading the line for their first team.
This weekend he will take on Leeds with Barnsley, and the manager who signed him on loan for the Tykes, Paul Heckingbottom.
