Sunderland fans may not be too interested in how Manchester United are doing these days on a regular basis, but on Thursday evening, they might have been following one particular player closely.

James Garner has been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light in the January transfer window, with The Sun recently reporting that Sunderland are looking to land the 18-year-old midfielder on loan in the January transfer window.

The England Under-19 international was in action for United in their Europa League Group L game against Partizan Belgrade away from home on Thursday evening.

The 18-year-old midfielder started the match and played for 82 minutes, as the Red Devils won 1-0.

According to WhoScored, Garner took one shot which was not on target, had a pass accuracy of 82.9%, won one header, took 53 touches, and made two interceptions and one clearance.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his take on the performance of Garner on the club’s official website.

Solskjaer told United’s official website about Garner: “I thought Jimmy [Garner] grew into the game, he did really well. He got tired, of course.”
