Manchester United’s Dean Henderson has lauded Tottenham goalkeeper Joe Hart and shared that he is someone who has given him ‘a lot of advice’, as he told England’s YouTube channel.

The Old Trafford academy product shared that he first met Tottenham’s summer signing during Shrewsbury’s FA Cup tie against West Ham in 2018.

Hart, who was still on Manchester City’s books at the time, was on-loan at the East London club, whilst Henderson was plying his trade in the lower leagues.

Now, after successful loan spells at Bramall Lane, Henderson is trying to push David de Gea for Manchester United’s number one spot and he shared his thoughts on Hart.

“This was a great day [Shrewsbury vs West Ham in the FA Cup,” said Henderson. “Obviously, pulled West Ham in the cup for Shrewsbury and then playing against Joe Hart, who was my idol growing up.

“He had the England number one shirt when I was a young boy and that was something I wanted to achieve one day. This was a special moment when I played against him. He gave me his number and we got texting from there.

“He has been great for me. He has given me a lot of advice along the way.”

Two years ago, Hart was starting to lose grip of England’s number one jersey, whilst Henderson was an unknown figure in English football.

But fast forward to today and the two-time Premier League winner is a back-up at Spurs, whilst Henderson is back-up to England’s number one Jordan Pickford.

It just goes to show how things can change in English football, regardless of what you have achieved, as Hart will be hoping to bring some life, enjoyment and form back into his game at Spurs.
