Ola John, wanted by Garry Monk in May 2015, might have loan terminated – should Leeds swoop?

The Dutch winger is said to be one of a few players Wolves could let go this winter.

It is looking increasingly likely that Wolverhampton Wanderers will be letting several of their loan players leave the club in the January transfer window.

One such player looks like being Ola John. The Express and Star suggested in November that the Dutch winger might be on his way out of Molineux in January after failing to have an impact at the club.

So could this pique the interest of Leeds United manager Garry Monk?

Back in May 2015 it was reported that Monk was close to bringing John to Swansea City. His agent, and former Fulham striker Collins John, told Voetbal International the deal was essentially done.

However, nothing came of it and in the end he left Benfica to join Reading on loan for the season at the start of September.

He had a good spell at the Madejski Stadium and was a Jorge Mendes influenced signature at Wolves in the summer. But he has struggled with a hamstring problem at times this term and is not believed to be in the plans of Lambert.

Leeds are probably short one winger, with Kemar Roofe and Souleymane Doukara better from central positions, and John would bring some extra pace to their attack.

Monk is clearly a fan and it should not be hard to convince Benfica to loan him out again.

Leeds could get themselves a useful squad player.
