Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that head coach Paul Heckingbottom makes it clear to the players what their roles are.

The 40-year-old former Barnsley boss was appointed the Leeds head coach earlier this month.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international told The Yorkshire Evening Post about Heckingbottom: “He makes everything black and white.

“It’s ‘you do your job, that’s what you’re responsible for’ and if everyone does their own job then we’ll be successful.

“If one person tries to do half of someone else’s job then that’s when errors start to come and that’s the big thing he’s been telling us. That’s your role, you carry it out and everyone else will look after themselves.”

Encouraging for Leeds United fans

Heckingbottom’s approach should be encouraging for Leeds fans, who should be optimistic and confident about the team ending up in the top six of the Championship this season.

The former Barnsley boss is at the start of his managerial career, but the 40-year-old is spot-on about his approach.

The results of Leeds under Heckingbottom have not exactly been great, but the Whites did win in the Championship at the weekend.

What the West Yorkshire outfit now need to do is put together a run of positive results and break into the playoff spots.

Leeds will return to action this coming Friday when they take on Middlesbrough away from home at the Riverside Stadium in the Championship.
