Jamie O’Hara has told TalkSPORT Edge that Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez would be an “absolutely brilliant” signing for Tottenham – branding a possible deal as a 9/10. Spurs have been regularly linked with the Argentine this summer.

The 24-year-old enjoyed another stellar campaign with Inter, clocking up 25 goals in 49 games for Simone Inzaghi’s men. He finished the campaign in style, with seven goals in Inter’s last seven Serie A matches.

Reports last week claim that Martinez has rejected Arsenal, and Spurs are ready to shatter their club transfer record to sign the attacker. Spurs are said to be readying a fee of £77million to reunite him with Antonio Conte.

Tottenham fan and ex-Spurs midfielder O’Hara told TalkSPORT Edge that he believes it would be an “absolutely brilliant” signing if Spurs got Martinez. He branded the signing as a 9/10.

“If we could get him over the line, we are right there amongst it again. If you’re a player like Martinez, you are not going to want to play second fiddle. He is not as good as Kane. He would be a 9/10 signing, absolutely brilliant.”

But O’Hara does make a good point – where does he fit in? Spurs will need depth and there will be a rotation policy next season, given the club will be competing on four fronts. But he will want to start most games.

Conte could switch to a 3-5-2, the system which worked wonderfully well at Inter Milan. He partnered Martinez with Romelu Lukaku to win the Scudetto. Even a 3-4-1-2 formation might work, with Harry Kane dropping deep.

But the 3-4-3 system he has currently implemented at Spurs works well, with Son Heung-min and Kane in their best positions. Would Lautaro want to play wide right? Unlikely. Nevertheless, he would be a superb addition.
