Ryan Mason kicked off his interim stint as Tottenham Hotspur boss with a win on Wednesday, following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal earlier in the week.
Tottenham edged out Southampton 2-1 in North London to move sixth in the Premier League table.
Impressively, Spurs had to come from behind to take all three points after Danny Ings headed the Saints into a 1-0 half-time lead.
In truth, Mason’s side looked horrible during an opening 45 minutes that could – and should – have resulted in the hosts conceding more than just the one goal.
But Tottenham were much better after the break and Gareth Bale curled home a wonderful equaliser on the hour mark, before Son Heung-min snatched all three points from the penalty spot.
The Lilywhites were a totally different side in the second half and Jamie O’Hara has claimed on Twitter that Mason is already an upgrade on Mourinho as far as half-time team talks go.
