Simon Jordan has claimed on talkSPORT that he doesn’t think Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will be Aston Villa manager despite the rumours suggesting otherwise.
The former Crystal Palace owner claimed that he has a ‘sneaky suspicion’ that there is a ‘lot less’ in these rumours than what is being put out there.
Ever since Villa sacked Dean Smith last Sunday, the one name that has regularly been touted to replace the 50-year-old has been Gerrard’s.
It’s no surprise because Villa’s Chief Executive, Christian Purslow, worked at Liverpool for a number of years, so he would take a liking to Gerrard.
But it seems as though Gerrard is ‘interested’ in the Villa job and a deal could possibly be done, according to the Telegraph.
Despite that, Jordan dropped a bombshell on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning that he can’t see it happening, as Rangers-mad Jim White, shared his response.
“I have just got a sneaky suspicion that this will be a little bit of puff and stuff and he won’t end up at Villa,” said Jordan.
“Oh, you think he won’t go?!” responded White.
Jordan added: “I have got a sneaky suspicion that there is a lot less in this than we think there is. That’s my initial take and, of course, like any of these things, it’s a 50-50 situation.”
White then stated: “To be fair Simon, at least you are out there and are saying it.”

Whilst Villa will want to bring in a new face, as soon as possible, they do have some time to play with because of the international break.
Ideally, they will want someone in by next week, so they can get a week’s training under their belt.
It will be interesting to see what other direction Villa go down if the Gerrard deal doesn’t happen.
Many think it is probably a little premature for him to leave now and he should look to defend the Scottish Premiership title that the Gers won last season.
Either way, an interesting few days await those in Glasgow and in the Midlands because it wouldn’t be a surprise if there are a few twists and turns in this one yet.
