Liverpool fans are excited after suggestions that they have made a contract offer to David Alaba.
The Guardian claim that Liverpool have submitted a deal to the Bayern Munich central defender, with his contract expiring in the summer.
Alaba is yet to commit his future with the German champions, and appears to be likely to leave the Bundesliga outfit for a new challenge.
If Liverpool were to sign him, he could bolster their defensive options next campaign.
Alaba is comfortable playing in central defence, left-back and even in midfield.
And Reds supporters certainly have been excited by the latest transfer update.
If Liverpool were to sign Alaba it would give Jurgen Klopp another elite player in the prime of their career.
The Austrian would be a signing of a similar mould to Thiago Alcantara, who Liverpool landed last summer.
Liverpool’s need for more defensive cover has been clear this season, and Alaba’s arrival could, therefore, be a massive boost to their chances of success next term.
The problem for Liverpool is that they are not the only club looking to sign Alaba, with Real Madrid also in the race for him, the Guardian say.
