‘Oh well, Leeds win pending’: West Ham fans discuss update ahead of Bielsa meeting

West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after finding out that Mike Dean would be in charge of their clash with Leeds this Monday.

Just by looking at the replies, it’s safe to say they’re not happy with his appointment.

Why? Well, last time Dean oversaw a West Ham game, there was huge controversy in the dying stages.

The well-known referee dismissed Tomas Soucek against Fulham at the end of the 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage on February 6th.

Accidentally, the West Ham No.28 pushed his elbow into Aleksandar Mitrovic’s forehead, which was a total mistake – there was clearly no intent.

However, after watching the incident on the VAR monitor about 100 times, Dean decided to show Soucek a straight red card.

Embarrassingly for him, the dismissal was later overturned, as Dean’s decision became null and void.

It’s somewhat controversial in itself that Dean has been allowed to take charge of another West Ham game less than a month after this incident.

However, he has been entrusted to oversee proceedings at the London Stadium this Monday, much to the annoyance of some West Ham fans on Twitter.
