Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to Leon Bailey claiming that he is ‘ready’ for the next step in his career.
The Bayer Leverkusen speedster told ESPN that he has ‘worked hard’ during his career and he feels he’s now at an age where he can go to the next level.
It has been suggested that Villa have made a bid for the Jamica international, as they look to build on their forward line ahead of the new Premier League season.
Villa have already smashed their transfer record this summer when they signed Emiliano Buendia, they did the same in 2020 with Ollie Watkins and before that with Wesley.
And it wouldn’t be a surprise if Naseef Sawaris and Wes Edens are throwing even more money on the table for Bailey’s talents.
Villa supporters have offered a mixed response to Bailey’s comments, with some glad that he wants to move and they think he might want to join them.
But given that he has stated that he wants to take the ‘next step’ in his career, others feel he might be hinting towards wanting to play in Europe.
Dean Smith’s side can’t provide that for the trickster, but he’s the type of player fans want to see in order for them to get to that level themselves.
It’s going to be interesting to see whether Bailey sees playing in Europe as the next level or actually joining a team in England’s top-flight.
Either way, with the Jack Grealish saga mixed into it all, it seems as though Villa will be one of the more busier teams as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
