Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumour that Leeds United are set for a full takeover by the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers group already own 44% of Leeds United and they are now set to purchase the rest from Andrea Radrizzani in the next two years, according to The Athletic.

If it does go through, then it will be purchased for a total price of over £400 million, which includes Leeds’ home ground, Elland Road.

It would also mean more American ownership in the Premier League and the Arsenal fans know everything about that.

Stan Kroenke is the owner of the Los Angeles Rams, and the North London club, as it seems as though Leeds will have a similar type of ownership if theirs go through during these coming years.

Of course, the Arsenal faithful have mixed feelings about this and how it might not work because of what they have been through.

It’s fair to say that those who own Arsenal, and those who support the club, week in and week out, haven’t really seen eye-to-eye with those in the boardroom for a very long time now.

Even though the Kroenke’s spent in the summer and backed Mikel Arteta, if they left tomorrow, then it would probably please the Arsenal fans.

Of course, just because one fanbase have had their troubles with American ownership, it doesn’t mean it will be the same elsewhere.

But with everything that happened with the European Super League, which included the Glazer’s, John W Henry and the Kroenke’s seemingly leading that now-infamous plan, fans in England have always been sceptical of American ownership in the Premier League.

Either way, it’s going to be interesting what road Leeds go down during these coming years because now they are back in the big time, they will want to compete near the top once more.
