Darnell Furlong will be sidelined for at least three months after suffering a torn knee ligament.
Queens Park Rangers will kick-off their Championship campaign without defender Darnell Furlong after he was ruled out for up to three months.
The right-back suffered a torn knee ligament during Saturday’s 1-0 friendly win over AFC Wimbledon and the news will come as a blow to QPR fans.
Furlong has already undergone surgery to repair the injury and QPR boss Steve McClaren will need to dip into the transfer market with defensive recruitment already desired before news of the setback broke.
Fans of the west Londoners will be hoping that between McClaren, Director of Football Les Ferdinand and chairman Tony Fernandes new signings are made quickly with much emphasis on adding defenders.

Furlong had an impressive season last year and many of the Loftus Road faithful were hoping to see more of the same, but will have to wait until October at least.
The 22-year-old also missed three months of the 2017/18 campaign with a knee injury and that oh-so familiar feeling appears to be apparent among a section of QPR fans.
