Newcastle United fans are not exactly optimistic ahead of their game against Manchester City this evening, after news emerged that a number of their key players are injured.

Bruce confirmed at his press conference yesterday, which was covered by the Chronicle, that Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron, Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff are all major doubts to be fit to play for Newcastle this evening.

That is a huge blow for the Magpies, as it leaves their options very short.

City are not the team any side would want to face when not at full strength.

And Newcastle fans are worried that they could get thumped, with so many vital players out.

The good news for Newcastle is that their recent form has taken the pressure off them.

Newcastle are well safe of relegation, so even if they do suffer a heavy defeat, it shouldn’t be too harmful to Bruce’s side in the long-run.

Bruce will be eager to keep his side’s strong run of form going though, and a win against City would only help strengthen his claim to be in charge again next season, if Newcastle’s takeover goes through.
