Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after noticing that the season ticket section of the official website has crashed, amid the takeover news.

What’s the story?

Well, plenty of Newcastle fans have sworn to themselves they wouldn’t step foot inside St James’ Park while Mike Ashley remains in charge.

Now, with the most unpopular man on Tyneside closer to leaving than ever, it seems a bunch of supporters are now rushing to come back.

As a result, the website can’t quite handle the demand.

On the other hand, it may not have crashed – the season ticket section may just be on ice for now.

It’s entirely speculative, but the new owners could potentially hand fans some form of discount or promotional offer.

Perhaps that is why supporters are currently unable to buy season tickets.

Whatever the reason, it feels as if new life has been breathed into Newcastle Football Club – what a time.

For the past 14 years, supporters have watched their club dissolve from a Champions League side into relegation fodder.

Ashley has sucked the life out of Newcastle, and at the risk of sounding dramatic, he has also ruined lives on Tyneside.

Football is all that matters to some people – it is their life.

They live and breathe to watch their side at the weekend, but Ashley snatched that away from thousands for far too long.

Believe us, it is genuinely crushing to be in a situation where you don’t look forward to watching your beloved football club play.

Aside from football, this will also reenergise Tyneside and put the Magpies back on the map.

A sleeping giant is about to wake up.

For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about the website…
