‘Oh no’: Some fans gutted as injury curse now hits Liverpool prospect

You could put forth quite a convincing argument that Liverpool, for whatever reason, are somewhat cursed this season.

Despite being Premier League champions, Liverpool are 25 points behind Manchester City this time around.

It’s been a dismal defence of their title but much of that is down to the unprecedented injury crisis that Jurgen Klopp has had to contend with.

Klopp has tried and tested some 20 different centre-back partnerships this season due to injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, neither of whom are expected to play again until next term.

But even the youngsters are getting injured now, too.

Layton Stewart suffered a serious knee injury in an Under-23 game last weekend and required oxygen as he was being stretchered off the field.

And although Liverpool have no timescale on his absence, it looks to be a long one after the club posted an official update on their website, confirming an ACL issue.

The 18-year-old is a very exciting prospect and has scored 17 goals at youth level this season.
