Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic‘s Dominic Fifield made a claim about the club’s deadline day activity.
What’s the story?
Well, with Odsonne Edouard believed to be having a medical this morning – according to Fabrizio Romano – the Eagles are clearly active.
After a flurry of outgoings, including Andros Townsend, Mamadou Sakho and Patrick van Aanholt, supporters had hoped for a number of signings.
Sadly, Fifield believes a deal for the Celtic striker will wrap up Crystal Palace’s business this summer.
Edouard’s arrival would mark Patrick Vieira’s seventh signing this summer, although it seems some fans would be upset if the Frenchman was the last addition.
The south Londoners could still do with a winger. Crystal Palace were already short on wide men before Townsend left, so they could do with at least one more.
Crystal Palace only need Odsonne Edouard

If Edouard’s arrival is the last activity of the window for Crystal Palace, that shouldn’t be an issue for fans.
Why? Well, after the international break, Michael Olise is expected to be ready for action, having arrived from Reading carrying an injury.
The £8m forward isn’t your traditional, Yannick Bolasie-type winger, although he did line up on the right for Reading where he often cut inside on his left.
Olise isn’t going to burn past full-backs, but he will hold the width on the right and create chances for the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Edouard.

In that respect, signing a winger isn’t too crucial with the 19-year-old on his way back to full fitness.
Vieira also has Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to choose from out wide, so there are definitely in-house options for the role.
Nevertheless, let’s see how the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter reacted to Fifield’s comments…
