Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Times revealed that Diogo Jota will now be allowed to link up with Portugal.

Portugal were initially on England’s red list in terms of international travel, due to the global pandemic.

However, those restrictions have now been relaxed, meaning Jota is eligible to travel with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal’s World Cup qualifiers.

Now, this news has really annoyed the Liverpool fans on Twitter.

The 24-year-old has only just began to start games for the Reds again, having recovered from an injury suffered in December against FC Midtjylland.

Jota has made a huge impact since returning. He assisted Mohamed Salah in the 2-0 win over RB Leipzig, before scoring the winner against Wolves on Monday.

It seems supporters are very anxious of losing their No.20 to another injury while he’s away with Portugal.

The concerns are valid, there’s no doubting that. However, if Liverpool blocked Jota from going, they could also risk upsetting him.

The forward’s place in Fernando Santos’ starting XI for EURO 2021 is not guaranteed, as he faces competition from Pedro Neto, Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, Daniel Podence and many other quality forwards.

In that respect, he has a great chance to nail down his place in these upcoming qualifiers.

Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about the ‘ridiculous’ news found in The Times
