Many Liverpool fans are strongly against the suggestion that Jurgen Klopp wants Pep Lijnders to replace him as Liverpool boss when the time comes.
The Sunday World claims that Klopp would like his assistant to take over from him at Liverpool, at the point when he walks away.
However, Klopp’s decision on his potential successor is not one that many Liverpool supporters agree with.
Lijnders has very little managerial experience, and although he does know the club well, most Liverpool fans feel that there are better options out there for them.
If Liverpool were to appoint Lijnders when Klopp departs it certainly would be a big risk.
The Dutchman is completely unproven, but he would at least know Klopp’s methods well.
Lijnders has worked with Klopp for years now, and is also highly regarded as an excellent coach by Liverpool’s players.
In any case, any decision on Klopp’s successor is unlikely to happen in the near future.
The Liverpool boss swatted aside rumours he could leave this week, and suggested that his long-term future was at Anfield.
