Jermaine Beckford told the Football Show on Sky Sports (09/02/ at 10:05 am) that reported Liverpool target Raphinha has ‘everything’ after his recent performance for Leeds.
On Monday night, Raphinha produced a Man of the Match display as Leeds recorded a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Not long after, Italian outlet JuveLive claimed that Liverpool are interested in securing the trickster’s talents.
Former Leeds striker Beckford has been seriously impressed with the Brazilian winger and the talent he brings to the Premier League table.
“Raphinha, what a player,” said Beckford. “We saw it in the clip (for his skill against Cahill). He was full of energy (against Palace). Full of enthusiasm.
“Every time he picked the ball up, he was so direct in his decision-making and his movements. I started feeling bad for the fullbacks and defenders for Palace.
“He was just relentless. Every time he picked the ball up he was causing issues. Moving around.
“The piece of trickery on Gary Cahill, oh my word. Disgusting. I don’t think that should be allowed – He was lethal. The kid has got everything. He has the world at his feet. What an exciting player he is. And for £17 million as well. That is some deal.”
Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp
- Champions League
2018/19
- UEFA Super Cup
2019
- FIFA Club World Cup
2019
- Premier League
2019/20
It would be a surprise if Raphinha does make the switch from Yorkshire to Merseyside because it’s not a route many had on their transfer map.
The key thing is that Raphinha wouldn’t get into Liverpool’s starting XI, and given that those in the Elland Road boardroom paid £17 million for his services, then they would demand close to or more than double that amount if they had to sell him.
And the current champions aren’t the type to splash that type of cash on a player to warm their bench.
