Jermaine Beckford has claimed that he feels ‘so sorry’ for Adam Forshaw because of the ‘torrid’ time he has had with injuries at Leeds, as he told Sky Sports Football (26/10/21 at 7:20 pm).
The former Leeds striker touched upon Forshaw’s injury hell during these past few years that have restricted to only 12 games in two and a bit seasons.
Forshaw did start for Leeds yesterday, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in the League Cup, the £5 million player (BBC Sport) was subbed at half-time.
It does seem as though that was more to do with building him up, rather than a tactical move by Marcelo Bielsa.
Beckford touched upon what Forshaw can bring to the table and how it has been a huge miss for Leeds during these past few years.
“Oh my word,” said Beckford. “I’ll be honest with you. He has had an absolute torrid 18 months to two years.
“I feel so sorry for him. He was playing really, really well. He was confident. He collects the ball positively as well in difficult situations. He manages to get himself out of those situations.
“His passing and distribution is very, very good and that’s something that has been missing from Leeds during the last few years.
“But to see Adam Forshaw back in the fold, I am very, very happy for him. Hopefully, he is able to continue that form he showed before he got injured.”

When Kalvin Phillips has been on the sidelines, for one reason or another, it’s a player of Forshaw’s ilk that they have missed.
But he is back on the field of play now and it’s going to be interesting to see how Bielsa uses him.
Given that he has been out for so long, the last thing he needs is to be thrusted straight into the big time and under the highly-demanding stewardship of Bielsa.
But Leeds need him back out on that field, and whilst he will need time to get his engine going again, once he does, it will feel like a new signing.
