Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter in stunned fashion after the BBC revealed an ’embarrassing’ statistic about Jose Mourinho’s side.
In their match report of Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Wolves, the BBC revealed that Spurs have had just 22 shots in the second half of their last seven Premier League matches.
That dreadful run comes after they managed to amass 18 shots in the second half of their 1-0 win against West Brom alone on November 8th.
The BBC‘s revelation means that the north Londoners have been averaging just over three shots in the second half of their last seven games.
Mourinho’s men only mustered up one effort in the second half at Molineux on Sunday.
What has happened to Tottenham?
This was a side who were running rampant at the start of the campaign.
Spurs stuck six past Manchester United at Old Trafford, and also scored five goals at St Mary’s.
The quality of the opposition must be taken into account here, but Tottenham also put seven goals past Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League.
With the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son in the side, the lack of attacking impetus recently has been worrying.
Spurs have more than enough quality to hurt teams, so why doesn’t Mourinho unleash his attackers more often?
