Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced the signing of Liel Abada from Maccabi Petah Tikva.

What’s the story?

Well, Ange Postecoglou has finally wrapped up his first significant signing since replacing Neil Lennon at Celtic Park.

The 19-year-old – who Celtic describe as highly rated in their announcement – joins the Bhoys on a five-year contract.

Abada will cost Celtic £3.4m, which is set to be paid in three instalments according to The Scotsman.

Celtic claim that the teenager attracted interest from some major European clubs last season, after earning a call-up to Israel’s senior squad.

For such a young player, Abada has enjoyed a decent career so far.

He scored 20 goals in 76 appearances for Maccabi Petah Tikva, which is quite a decent strike rate – roughly a goal every four games.

Abada also provided ten assists in those outings.

Additionally, the attacker can operate as a centre-forward, or as a winger, versatility which Postecoglou will surely be a huge fan of.

By all accounts, Abada is a hugely promising prospect, who Celtic have done well to get their hands on.
