Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jürgen Klopp used air quotes when talking about Rangers and Steven Gerrard.
What’s the story?
Well, the Liverpool boss was discussing Gerrard’s managerial career so far, ahead of the 41-year-old’s return to Anfield with Aston Villa.
When saying the word Rangers, Klopp used air quotes, as if to suggest that shouldn’t be what they’re referred to.
If you skip the video down below to 2 minutes and 50 seconds, you can see what the 54-year-old did during his press conference.
When Rangers were liquidated and forced to start again in the third division, they were purchased by a company named Sevco Scotland Ltd, which later changed its name to The Rangers Football Club Ltd.
In actual fact, Rangers aren’t technically a new club, as Sevco arranged a transfer of the existing SFA membership instead of obtaining a new one.
However, Celtic fans still enjoy goading their bitter rivals about that dark time by referring to them as Sevco.
Therefore, you can understand why they loved Klopp using air quotes to describe them as “Rangers” – the German is now a Hoops hero.
Steven Gerrard might not be happy with Jürgen Klopp

Gerrard and Klopp have a great relationship due to their association with Liverpool, but we’re not sure he’ll have liked the German’s remark.
The Aston Villa boss was at Ibrox from 2018 to 2021, and led Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership title in a decade.
As a result, Rangers became a big part of his footballing life, so he may take some offence to what Klopp did.

Having said that, Gerrard did walk out on the Gers in the middle of the season, so maybe he won’t care that much.
For now, let’s see what the Celtic fans on Twitter have been saying about Klopp’s air quotes…
