Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Goal’s Charles Watt tweeted a ‘sensational’ statistic involving Mesut Özil and Willian.
After the latter assisted Gabriel Magalhães against Olympiacos last night, he took his assist tally for the campaign to seven in 29 appearances.
Watt revealed that Willian’s seven set-ups are more than Özil managed to muster up in 59 outings across his last two seasons in north London.
Considering the German is world-renowned for assisting, and Willian has endured a tough start to his Arsenal career, this statistic is mind-boggling.
It has also captivated the Gunners fanbase, as Watt’s revelation drew hundreds of replies from supporters.
If anything, it just goes to show that Willian is starting to turn his Arsenal career around.

The 32-year-old’s last four assists have come in his last four outings.
He’s been involved in goals against Benfica, Leicester, Burnley and, as aforesaid, Olympiacos.
Impressively, Arsenal have won three of those games, drawing the other.

Admittedly, he may have infuriated supporters early on with his lethargic approach to games, in which he genuinely looked like he wasn’t interested, in our view.
However, credit must be given where it’s due – he’s starting to deliver for Mikel Arteta.
Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about this statistic…
