Liverpool’s Curtis Jones could fulfill a lifelong ambition tonight.

The Reds’ academy product is in line to make his senior debut at Anfield when Arsenal visit Jurgen Klopp’s side in a League Cup clash.

Jones made his competitive bow in Liverpool’s defeat in the FA Cup at Wolves last season, before impressing in the win at MK Dons in the previous round of this competition.

But the local lad who used to visit Anfield as a supporter has never experienced this stadium at senior level in front of a packed house.

And Jones suggests that he still feels a touch starstruck by sharing a dressing room with the European champions’ trident of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Speaking to The Independent, the 18-year-old said: “Sadio, Mo, Bobby, the lads in the dressing room are some of the best players in the world. If I was still sitting in the stands watching them I’d be like ‘oh my God’.”

The teenage midfielder is one of the biggest talents from the club’s Kirkby academy and what a statement he could make to Klopp tonight.

That being said, regardless of how he plays, he won’t be breaking into the German’s best XI any time soon.

The competition for midfield places is simply too strong, but he can offer a big, big taste of things to come.
