Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp has had a brilliant season-long loan at Norwich City.

The 20-year-old has started 43 out of a possible 44 Championship games in helping Daniel Farke’s side win Premier League promotion.

And he has just had his good work rewarded after it was announced by Norwich that the Tottenham gem had placed third in the Player of the Year stakes.

Quite a lot of Spurs fans have been manipulating the voting system for the whole season and had often been voting for Skipp to win individual Man of the Match awards, prompting Farke to make light of the situation a little earlier this year, saying: “Perhaps he wins the MOTM award every week because the Tottenham fans come on our site and vote for him!”

But supporters of the North London club were unable to get their man the Player of the Year award, with Emiliano Buendia topping that list ahead of second-placed Grant Hanley and Skipp.

Here’s how some Norwich fans reacted to the announcement today:

It’ll be interesting to see what is next for Skipp.

It goes without saying that plenty of Tottenham fans want him back, but the Lilywhites don’t even have a head coach.

This is good and bad news regarding Skipp.

It’s good because it gives the youngster a clean slate under whoever replaces Jose Mourinho but, by the same token, he’s 20 and only has 15 Premier League games under his belt.

And therefore Mourinho’s successor might favour more experienced midfielders, particularly in his first season in charge.
