Arsenal produced their biggest win of the Premier League campaign on Boxing Day.
The Gunners posted a ruthless performance to dismantle Norwich City 5-0 at Carrow Road.
Gabriel Martinelli went into the game as perhaps Arsenal’s most in-form footballer but surprisingly, the 20-year-old Brazilian wasn’t among the goals.
He did, however, have a massive part to play in the visitors’ second of the afternoon.
Left-back Kieran Tierney galloped through on goal after being released by Martin Odegaard, with the Scot calmly finishing just before the half time.
But it was tireless running from Martinelli which saw Odegaard receive possession in the first place, after the South American dispossessed a Norwich player.
The youngster is just as committed off the ball as he is on it and here’s what some Arsenal supporters said about Martinelli on Twitter.
Immense prospect
This is someone Jurgen Klopp labelled a ‘talent of the century’ two years ago and how Liverpool’s manager would absolutely love Martinelli.
As mentioned, he is absolutely brilliant but his defensive work is truly outstanding and that’s the sort of pressing which Klopp loves to see in his own players.
Fortunately for Arsenal, Martinelli is going nowhere anytime soon and he’ll be at the Emirates Stadium for another few years yet.
And really, why would he want to leave anyway?
The Gunners have perhaps the most exciting crop of young footballers in English football and with a very talented coach in the form of Mikel Arteta, Martinelli is finally enjoying his game again.
