Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Mirror revealed that the Gunners are monitoring Brighton wonderkid Tariq Lamptey.
The Mirror‘s story states that Barcelona are lining up a move to bring Hector Bellerin back to Catalonia, with Arsenal eyeing Lamptey as his potential replacement.
The England Under-21 international has sent shockwaves through the Premier League since nailing down a first-team place at Brighton.
The energetic right-back left Chelsea after rejecting a contract offer from the Blues in favour of first-team football, joining the Seagulls for just £3 million.
So far this season, the 20-year-old has caught the eye with his marauding displays from right-back.
The Brighton No.2 has one goal and one assist in 11 Premier League starts this season.
The Mirror also state that Manchester City and Bayern Munich have been attracted to the London-born defender’s mesmeric displays under Graham Potter.
The Mirror‘s John Cross adds that Joan Laporta – who is favourite to become Barcelona’s new president next month – wants Bellerin, who came through La Masia, to return to the Camp Nou.
If Arsenal did manage to swap the 25-year-old Spaniard for an up-and-coming prodigy in 20-year-old Lamptey, it could only be considered good business.
