Hertha Berlin fans are reacting on Twitter to some bad news about Arsenal loanee Matteo Guendouzi.

It was a pretty rotten night for Arsenal on Thursday anyway as Mikel Arteta’s side were dumped out of the Europa League following a 0-0 draw with Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium.

But it was also a stinker for one of the Gunners’ on loan stars – Guendouzi.

The France Under-21 international came off injured in the first half of the Bundesliga club’s cup win over Freiburg.

Hertha posted an update on their Twitter feed which revealed that Guendouzi, an £8 million signing by Arsenal almost three years ago, had suffered a fractured foot.

The tweet, when translated, read: “[Guendouzi] had to be replaced with suspected metatarsal fracture. Further examinations will take place on Friday. We wish you a speedy recovery and a speedy recovery, Mattéo!”

And here’s how some fans of the German club reacted on Twitter:

It remains to be seen what sort of future the former Lorient midfielder has at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta is the biggest obstacle between Guendouzi and regular football in North London, but the Spaniard’s future hangs in the balance following last night’s defeat.

It was a horrible performance by Arsenal on a night when a 1-0 win would’ve taken them through to the final of the competition, but Arteta’s side mustered very little going forward and as a result, the rookie manager, whose team are ninth in the Premier League table, is in major trouble.
