Kevin Campbell told the Highbury Squad Podcast that the ‘love-in has started’ after Jose Mourinho reacted to an Instagram post from Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka.
The Arsenal midfielder posted a farewell message to his Switzerland manager, Vladimir Petkovic, on Wednesday, who will now manage Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux.
And Mourinho, who is rumoured to be interested in bringing the Arsenal man to Roma, reacted with clapping emojis, as Football London claim that Xhaka has agreed on personal terms with the Italian club.
Campbell reacted to Mourinho’s actions and shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s midfield situation.
“I think Arsenal will sign another central midfielder,” said Campbell. “If it’s not Bissouma then it would be somebody else.
On Mourinho responding to Xhaka’s Instagram post: “It’s a love-in. The love-in has started, has it? Oh, jeez!
“We are potentially losing three midfielders. Obviously, players have left on loan and gone back to their clubs. Two midfielders have gone back to Madrid.
“But Guendouzi, Torreira and Xhaka. That’s three midfielders out of our squad that need to be replaced.”

It does seem as though it’s just a case of Arsenal and Roma coming to an agreement for Xhaka’s signature because this transfer deal is dragging on.
Given that the hard-hitting midfielder will be due back in pre-season anytime soon, he might have to return to London rather than be allowed to go to Rome given that nothing has been agreed or confirmed yet.
But if Xhaka does seal a move to Serie A then it might just start the domino effect of Arsenal then being allowed to bring in fresh faces, such as James Maddison.
