Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after watching Trent Alexander-Arnold score a sensational goal for Liverpool in the 3-1 win over Newcastle.

What’s the story?

Well, the 23-year-old scored his second Premier League goal of the season last night, and what a strike it was.

Alexander-Arnold picked up the ball from around 25 yards out, before rifling a powerful effort into the top-left corner at the Kop End.

It was fairly close to Martin Dubravka, although he had no chance of stopping it due to the power of the shot.

Unsurprisingly, Alexander-Arnold’s 87th minute strike left Lineker impressed.

You can see what the BBC Match of the Day host tweeted in full below.

Imperious is absolutely the right word to describe Alexander-Arnold – he is dominating things from right-back, both domestically and in Europe.

The 16-cap England international now has two goals and ten assists to his name in 18 appearances this season.

Who else shone in Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle?

In our view, Diogo Jota deserves a mention for his display against the Magpies – he is developing into a top, top forward.

The 22-cap Portugal international had seven shots against Eddie Howe’s side, more than any other player on the pitch (WhoScored).

Three of those were on target, while he also made one key pass, embarked on one dribble and won a freekick for the Reds.

Jota now has nine Premier League goals in 16 appearances this season, placing him second in the scoring charts behind Mohamed Salah.

With Roberto Firmino lacking a goalscoring touch at the moment, Jürgen Klopp will be delighted to see his £41m forward stepping up.
